For over 20 years, Sophie has photographed families in the days, weeks and months after their baby arrives. She is now moving into Fresh 48 sessions: documentary-style photography that captures the raw, unrepeatable first hours in hospital.
The inspiration is:
- Real, documentary, unposed hospital storytelling.
- Focused on the exhausted joy, baby on chest, hospital blanket, name band, first singlet, and early family connection.
- A small number of families due in the coming weeks will be selected for this portfolio-building project.

what sophie is looking for:
- Families who genuinely connect with the documentary style.
- Sessions must take place during the hospital stay, usually within the first 24–48 hours after birth.
- Sophie needs to be reachable quickly once baby arrives.
- No outfits, props, or styled clothing changes for baby.
- Baby will be photographed in skin, nappy, singlet and/or hospital linens.
- Sophie will guide the creative direction and shot list because this is for portfolio development.
- Families may be asked to follow light styling guidance or source a simple item or two.
- Families need to be comfortable with photos being shared on social media, the website, portfolio and marketing.
